It was a match made in musical heaven when Morgan and Phoebe of Mimosa Duo met whilst studying classical music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Fast forward 10 years and the guitar and violin duo have extensive experience in pleasing couples and guests on their wedding day. Whilst they are the perfect fit for the ceremony itself, they also provide fabulous entertainment to kick off the reception and well into the night.
We are sure you will enjoying getting to know the fabulous Mimosa Duo as much as we did.

1. Morgan, tell us a little about Mimosa Duo, your style and how you and Phoebe started?
Pheebs and I met at the Con in Sydney and were a couple for 2 years before we started playing music together. We thought it made sense to give playing music together a crack and that was that, it worked really well and we got hooked on it. We started doing gigs together in 2010 then discovered the style of Gypsy Jazz and we both became obsessed with learning that, so much so that we went to live in France for 6 months in 2014. We have done a real lot together as a Duo, theses days we do a range of cruise ship gigs, shows on tour and private events.
2. Other than performing, what’s your favourite way to spend your time?
I love playing Table Tennis, serious Table Tennis, with expensive equipment and beads of sweat dripping down my face. I love doing heaps of things though, surfing, fishing, walking/swimming with Pheebs, playing board games, mucking around in the yard, learning new instruments, everything is good.
3. What, in your opinion, is the best thing about working in weddings?
I love feeling the vibes of different groups of people! Every wedding is different and usually most people are in good spirits, so I like just soaking that all up and getting to experience what it is like to be amongst different groups of people who all know each other well.
4. What is the most requested song at a wedding?
Fortunately for us we usually get asked to do songs we have never done before. So I have to be boring and say that we haven’t really had a song that is really often requested.
5. What song is always a crowd favourite?
We like to sneak in the Game of Thrones theme, and/or Metallica – ’Nothing Else Matters’, they will always get a few knowing winks or even a ’To the King in the North’!
6. What do you offer couples who book you to perform at their wedding?
Well, we will obviously be there well before time to set up our PA system which is always included in our rates, but the special thing we offer, is to learn up to 3 songs. This way people can walk down the aisle to whatever they like, they aren’t limited by our repertoire choices.
